Question: How Does God Communicate with Us and Tell Us What to Do?
Answer: The question is a real good one and must be answered. Hebrews 1:1-2 states that God in these last days speaks to us by His Son. So, to hear God, we must hear His Son Jesus Christ. But how do we hear Christ, seeing he is in heaven and we are here on earth? In John 16:13, Jesus told his apostles that the spirit of truth would come and guide them into all truth for according to vs 14, the Holy Spirit would receive of Christ and reveal it to the apostles. So then, to Hear God, is to Hear Christ, is to Hear the Holy Spirit, is to Hear the Apostles and the Inspired Word which they and others were caused to write down. Paul declared in I Corinthians 14:37, that men and women were obligated to acknowledge that "the things I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord." The Bible is not merely the words of men, but the words of God. We know there is a God by looking at the universe, the earth and ourselves, realizing such had to have been created by an all wise mind, BUT, we do not know what that mind demands us to do until we read and hear the Bible-- His Word. For instance: in Acts 2:37 a number of people were, by the preaching of the gospel caused to realize & believe that Jesus was the Lord and Christ, the saviour. They cried out "what shall we do?" In other words they were asking: "What does God demand of us to do to receive his grace?" In Acts 2:38; Peter said: "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." This is not man's command of you and me, it is God's! Will you listen to God, and obey his Word?
