Question: Can the Bible Be Understood?
Answer: Many people today agree that the Bible is the word of God, but think it is too complex to be understood by the average man and woman. In fact some religious groups will almost tell you that you need to be a scholar or clergyman to know what the Bible says. They would like to chain the Bible to the pulpit, and tell the common man not to study it. The reason for this is clear. If a common person read the Bible he would not find in it many of the things these religious groups teach and practice. But the Bible can be understood, yes, by you! In Ephesians 3:3 Paul said he had written to the Ephesians the revelation he had received from God. He tells us why he wrote them in the next verse (Ephesians 3:4) which says: "Wherby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ." The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to write so as to be understood. Paul and the other inspired men wrote down the revelation of God, and we can read it and learn. Many people don't think they can understand the Bible. But this is only because they have been told this by other, or because they have never read the Bible for themselves. God has a message for you. Shouldn't you read it and do what it says?
